About us
We burn for the bean.

top quality
The search for the best green coffee was one of the foundations of 55 Degrees. We rely on the best possible support and have found an importer and consultant in Coffee Trading Stehl from Hamburg, whose expertise is unparalleled in Germany. 20 years of business success speak for themselves. Together we started a selection process that was not always easy. There was mixing, roasting, tasting - and often enough: back to go. But in our opinion, the effort was worth it: in the end, great blends and single origins were found.
roasting
We refine our beans ourselves. This aspect was particularly important to us, because it is crucial for enjoyment in the cup. What only a few know: The taste of coffee is made up of over 800 aromas - twice as many as in wine. This complexity needs to be worked out. In addition to the beans and the enthusiasm, the equipment is particularly important: Our coffee is roasted on the unique machines from the US manufacturer Loring, in small batches, gently, evenly and in a climate-friendly manner. This way we can bring out the best in the beans. That takes time – and becomes tasteful.

What we are proud of
We believe that excellent coffee can only come from a positive and responsible attitude. That is why energy efficiency and recycling are not just buzzwords for us. Loring roasting machines are climate-friendly and use up to 80% less energy than conventional drum roasters. Transparency and fairness are an equally important next step for us, because the well-being of the farmers is also important to us. In addition, our roastery is organically certified.

Which is also important to us
Our coffees taste unique. You have the choice between five blends with an unmistakable character, from the elegant "all-rounder" to two espresso roasts and filter coffees. We also have exceptional single origins on offer (two so far). Also important: With us, all varieties come as whole beans in the pack, because only freshly ground coffee develops the best taste - even during grinding, an intoxicating aroma develops that makes you want to have the next cup.
